I went out today for the first time in about a month and a half. I decided to start off at week 5 since the thought of doing it didn’t make me think about never starting again. The run went well. I kept watch on my HR and kept it at about 160 while running and no lower than 140 when walking. I ran through every run section, even though I had to slow it way down at times. I think I’m back
However, the real joy is that I went out running for the first time with my new iphone. Before going out I wanted to check the run/walk times again. But then I remembered that a couch25k program was available as an app. I browsed the app store chose the program, allowed the program to download (took 30 seconds) chose the day, turned right and walked out the door. As I started the warm-up walking I also set itunes to play my exercise set and set it to background. The c25k app had the time remaining for the section, what the section was and how much overall time was remaining constantly displaying on the screen. At the end of every section an alarm went off and a voice told me what section to transition to. If my iphone could also track my heart rate, I would leave my watch at home. It was so easy to do the program this way. With every use of my iphone I become a bigger believer that this is the greatest gadget. Ever.
