Normally when I get a book I stop whatever I can and power read through it. I mean if I want to read the book, I want to read it ASAP. After all, if I didn't think it would be good I wouldn't have gotten it. I just received the "Sandman Slim" book. I bought it so we would have something to read on the planes and trains of Italy. So now we see how long I can ignore the book until we are on the plane to Italy.

Nick has decided he's going to get an iphone once his other plan runs out. Hazzah! No more stealenating mine at the mall, movie or grocery store.

I had to buy a new case. The first one I got was beautiful but was structurally flawed. It cracked and broke where the tabs holding it together were. It was beautiful but it only lasted about a month. I have to remember to go back to amazon and give the appropriate review. On the bright side I got a new one and I like it even better than the first.

Proprietary Cables: 5 cents each. Shipping $14.98. Still cheaper than going to the store to buy just one which costs $20 each. Each! I almost bought a $75 battery case despite the lackluster color choices simply because it had a built in Apple-miniUSB adapter. And you can sync through the mini-USB. Almost...and still consider it from time to time.

Sony eBook
Damned library *still* won't open on my desktop! I know you're there ereader software. I see your processes running in the TaskManager. The tech help saga took me from the India Help Desk to San Diego. I am at a dead end there. The software still opens on my travel laptop so I can go to that as a last resort. But damned if this isn't pushing me more and more towards a Kindle! Oh Kindle, why couldn't you have been just a little bit less hideously ugly when I was shopping for ereaders?

On my latest trip to Bed Bath and Beyond (B3) I picked up a 12oz press pot and a Zyliss food chopper. I've now used both and am fairly pleased with them.

The Press Pot (image) )
It makes wonderful press coffee and there is much less mess. When no drinking press, the size of the carafe is also perfect for microwaving and frothing cappuccinos for two. The spout keeps the milk from spilling everywhere.

The second item I bought is a food chopper, like the one you see the ShamWow guy selling )
I was skeptical at first but chopping several onions a week sent me looking for shortcuts. It works reasonably well on Onions and only okay-wise with garlic. But as advertised it was quick and brainless. However the brand I bought cost $9 and it kinda shows it. The top protective barrier doesn't stay when you are not chopping. It may get more irritating as time goes on. It's only $9 so once it irritates me enough I'll upgrade to the Cuisinart brand name.

The last week I have tried to find a silicone sleeve for my 13" laptop and a DVR enclosure case.  All the office supply stores, Best Buy and Circuit City did not have these things.  I didn't really expect them to, besides I just have to make a trip out to Fry's.  Fry's will have it (confident, affirming head nod)., remember the magical times of the late 90's?  When any tech you could imagine you could find at Fry's and beyond.  Yes, the days when every nerd and geek swore angels sang everytime they walked in the doors.  Party's over - Fry's Failed
They had neither the Si cover nor the DVR enclosure.  They did have a sleeve of the right size, but only one and it was poor.  I was truly stunned.  Fry's had to have it.  I was just looking in the wrong place.  So I walked up and down the aisle and halls.  I even checked all the end displays.  Nothing.  Nada.  Do not pass checkout.  Do not spend $200.  Disappointed, defeated and worst of all disillusioned I returned to my car.....purchasless.  So now I search the web for what I need.  Sigh.  I am one step closer to becoming a shopping shut-in; leaving the house only for  work and pick-up food orders.

I discovered this newest time suck:
And it truly is.  It's a bunch of guys writing articles on random facts they find.  Some of them are hilariously written (seriously, we're talking Onion-worthy).  Sample headlines are:

Mutant Killer Seaweed of Doom
The Pit of Life and Death
The Great Taste of Human Flesh, Without the Guilt
The Unburdened Mind

Seriously, you should check them out.
